Tiki Birds
Welcome to my tropical hideaway, you lucky people you! my daughter absolutely loves the Enchanted Tiki Room, so when it came time for her birthday I knew I wanted to somehow incorporate it. She chose a Lilo and Stitch theme, so basically a perfect bridge to Tiki Room, I mean…if Aulani can do it, so can I! Ha!
Making these birds is easy peasy and you know I’m the one for the easy peasy crafts. I am not lying to you. I’m the laziest crafter you’ll ever meet!
I will show you how I made my birds. First thing you’ll need are some paper party birds. I found a set of 6 on Amazon for around $10. HERE As well as metal rings that were also around $10 HERE.
Materials:
- Paper birds
- Craft hoops
- White Cardstock (for Shells)
- Hot Glue
- Carefully cut as much of the “wood” that the birds are “perched on”, using an blade or exacto knife.
- Hot glue the birds to the hoops near the claws to make it look like they’re perched on the hoop.
- I used my Silhouette machine to cut basic shell shapes as well as the bird names. However, this can easily be done by hand. To create the shell shape, cut a slit on the center of the scalloped side, overlap, and hot glue. Now it looks like a real shell!
- Add yarn, or string, or whatever you’d like to use to hang the hoops and that’s it! I used Command hooks to hang them from the ceiling.
Four materials and four steps. EASY PEASY! Please leave me a comment if you make the birdies. I’d love to know if you try this craft or if you have any fun ways to change it up!
